Gochujang Butter Cabbage

This gochujang butter cabbage is the ultimate easy Korean-inspired side dish. It’s spicy, buttery, slightly sweet from the cabbage itself, and finished with sesame seeds for a nutty crunch. This dish is perfect when you want something comforting but still bold and exciting. It pairs beautifully with rice, noodles, grilled meats, dumplings, or even a fried egg on top for a simple meal.

If you’ve got cabbage sitting in your fridge and don’t know what to do with it, this is one of the easiest and most flavorful ways to use it.

1/2 head green cabbage, sliced into quarter. Neutral cooking oil
2 tbsp butter
1 tbsp gochujang. 1/2 tbsp minced garlic
2–3 tbsp water
1 tbsp sesame seeds

1. Mix together softened butter, gochujang, garlic and set aside.

2. Heat a large pan over medium-high heat and add oil. Add cabbage and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until softened and slightly browned.

3. Add water and cover 2-3 minutes until water has mostly evaporated.

4. Add in gochujang butter. Cook 1-2 minutes. Melt the sauce. Coat the cabbage thoroughly and garnish with sesame seeds.
