Chili Crisp Chex Mix

Chili crisp snack mix is a sweet and spicy twist on traditional Chex mix. Instead of the usual Worcestershire sauce and seasonings, this version uses chili crisp, honey, soy sauce, and butter to create a savory glaze with a little heat.

The inspiration comes from my popular furikake snack mix, a popular Hawaiian-style snack that combines crunchy cereal and other snacks with a sweet, savory coating.

For this version, chili crunch replaces the furikake-inspired flavor profile, bringing chili oil, crispy garlic, and a little spice into every bite.

Chili Crisp Snack Mix Recipe

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 35–45 minutes
Total Time: 45–55 minutes
Servings: Approximately 10–12

Ingredients

For the Snack Mix

2 cups Rice Chex
2 cups shrimp chips
2 cups crispy wonton strips (the ones from the salad aisle)
2 cups Cheez-Its
1 cup roasted unsalted peanuts

For the Honey Chili Crisp Glaze

4 tbsp unsalted butter
⅓ cup chile crisp, including crunchy bits
2½ tbsp honey
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp black sesame seeds
¼–½ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 250°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. In a large bowl, combine the Rice Chex, Cheez-Its, peanuts, shrimp chips, and wonton strips.

3. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the chili crisp, honey, soy sauce, and rice vinegar. If you want the sauce spicier, add in cayenne pepper. Stir until everything is combined.

4. Pour the glaze over the snack mix and toss until evenly coated. Add the sesame seeds and gently toss again.

5. Spread the mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 35–45 minutes, stirring every 10–15 minutes to ensure even coating and toasting.

6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely. The glaze will firm up as it cools.

7. Transfer to a serving bowl or airtight container.

Make a big batch for game day, parties, movie nights, or just snacking around the house
